This year instead of Christmas gifts Grandma Julie and Grandpa Pat bought us a family experience…a Caribbean cruise! In April, we set sail from Tampa on a 5-day cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. It was so wonderful to have such a fun experience with the entire family – Adam, Kellie, Jennie, Jordan, Mary, and cousin Daniel. It was also nice for Jay and I because Grandma and Grandpa helped out by staying back in the room to watch Addie for a night each.
I’m not sure if Addie really understood how big of a ship we were on – she would describe it as a "realllly big boat that’s like a hotel." We had a nice exterior cabin with a large window and a bunk bed that folded out of the wall, which Addie thought was so cool. Of course, she also really enjoyed the folded towel creatures that our room steward left in our room every night.
The entire family usually ate dinner together, and Addie was so patient each night while we ate a 3-course meal. She loved going in the hot tub and tried out the kids Camp Carnival (but wasn’t a big fan). She liked the dance lessons and came right up on stage with all of us girls.
In Grand Cayman it was really windy on the beach and the waves were huge, so we went to the Turtle Farm with Grandma Julie and Grandpa Pat. The facility has an educational center and hundreds of sea turtles, a couple of nice pools, a sandy beach area, and best of all, no wind!
In Cozumel, the entire family went to The Money Bar – a restaurant right on the beach. This was a great spot! We could swim and snorkel right off the beach, Addie played in the sand, and the restaurant had the best guacamole ever!
We had a wonderful time and might have to make it an annual tradition!
