When I dropped her off today she was excited to go play, meet classmates, and explore the classroom. She wasn't sad at all. She knew this was the right place for her to be! She was concerned about some of the other children in the class who were crying and sad to leave their parents, so she told me she would "help them and be their friend so they wouldn't be sad." She is very motherly already :)
When I picked her up she talked about school all the way home - who she played with, what they did, what she had for snack time and for lunch, etc. She was very excited to tell me about the watercolor painting. She also liked it that her classmates thought her snack was "very interesting" - strawberries with fresh mint leaves and almonds with homemade ranch seasoning mix she made herself. She already decided that tomorrow she wants to take tomatoes with fresh parsley for her snack. She is loving herbs right now!
Waldorf kindergarten will be a wonderful experience for her. My favorite part of the day was when a well meaning neighborhood friend asked her, "How was your first day of school? Did you learn a lot?" To which she replied, "We don't learn at this school. We just play." Exactly how it should be at this age.
